Altered Domino Books

Good morning friends!!  We are half way through my favorite month of the year!  March is my birth month and I love to celebrate all month long!!  I used to joke with my friends in high school that someday my birthday would be a holiday!  Well, in California it is! It's Cesar Chavez day and this year it is extra special because it is also Easter!!  LOVE it!!

But enough about my excitement! LOL!!  My project for today is an altered domino book.  These are so fun and so addicting! I've made 5 at last count!

For this little book, I chose flower fairy images because, well, it's Spring!!

First of all, I covered the back and sides of both dominoes with Ranger ink in different colors. Then,
I found the images I wanted on flickr.  There are tons of free images on there!  Love that site!!

I shrunk them down to roughly 1.8 x 1.25 inches and printed them out on my laserjet printer.  I trimmed them to fit the covers of the dominoes and sprayed them with hairspray to seal them so they wouldn't run when I applied the Glossy Accents.  Am I the only one with hair spray in her craftroom?

Finally, glued them to the dominoes and then I covered them with Glossy Accents.  I  added a metal butterfly from Making Memories before the GA dried.

Then, I took a 2 x 12 inch strip of scrapbook paper and folded it into 12 1 inch sections.  I glued in more fairy pics, and inked and stickled until it looked like I spilled fairy dust all over.

I added a couple cute altered tickets I received in a swap I did recently.  Finally, I used more Glossy Accents and glued a strip of ribbon between the accordion folded paper and the back of the domino.  This allows you to secure the book closed.

VIOLA!! It was done!!

Here are a couple others I did too.

These little books would be perfect to use instead of greeting cards or to use as a mini journal  to leave a keepsake with a special message for your children.  I just love them.

Well, I hope that I have inspired you to try something new and different.  If you do, please post it on your blog and leave me a comment with a link to your post.  I love seeing other people's ideas.

Have a great Friday!

Hugs!

Jodie
